IAEA REGIONAL TRAINING ON DATA FOR ENERGY PLANNING

IAEA regional training on data for energy planning

NuPEA hosted the International Atomic Energy Agency regional training course on data for energy planning, data collection, energy statistics & energy balances from 14th to 18th November, 2022 at Ole Sereni.

The objective of the workshop was to provide training in energy data collection, statistics and balances compilation and demonstrate the use of its energy balance studio tool (EBS). Participants brought national data sets and energy statistics and compiled first estimates of energy balances, and identified areas for potential improvements.

The workshop is part of the continuous efforts by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to build capacities in Africa member states under Regional African Program RAF 2013 where energy statistics & data collection activities should be further improved in order to create a sustainable energy planning environment, which will cover energy related indicators for Sustainable Development Goal 7 & energy efficiency indicators.

Countries represented at the IAEA regional training course were Algeria, Ethiopia, Sudan, Botswana, Mozambique, Kenya, Cote d’ivoire, Benin, Nigeria, Malawi, Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Tunisia and Eswatini.
