The Nuclear Power and Energy Agency (NuPEA) signed a collaboration agreement with the Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC). The purpose of the collaboration is to guide the two energy sector entities in the implementation of electrification and renewable projects on Research & Development, and dissemination of renewable energy technologies and related areas of mutual interest.
The signing ceremony was held on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at the NuPEA offices, Kawi Complex, South C in Nairobi. The Chief Executive Officer of NuPEA, Eng. Collins Juma (MBS) signed on behalf of the Agency while the Chief Executive Officer of REREC, CPA Peter Mbugua signed on behalf of the Corporation. The collaboration aligns with the enactment of the Energy Act, 2019 which established NuPEA with the extended mandate of carrying out Research & Development and capacity building in the energy sector in addition to implementing the nuclear power programme for Kenya.
